Jews have been a part of the American culture since the 19th century. They have faced many hardships as part of becoming Americas. Leaving their own countries to go to a foreign land they knew nothing about, they migrated to America in hopes of a better life. The Jews had to find their way among these new people by assimilating into the culture. Although they had to assimilate to survive, they maintained certain aspects of their Jewish identity as a reminder of their heritage.
